Police blotter: Three vehicles stolen Uptown in 12 hours, and one carjacking attempt thwarted

An armed burglary, a carjacking, a vehicle theft and an attempted carjacking were reported recently in Uptown neighborhoods. Three armed men stormed a Central City home early Wednesday (June 15) and drove off in a car belonging to one of the victims, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 3 a.m., the gunmen forced their way into a home in the 3000 block of Loyola Avenue and threatened the two residents, a 39-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. They demanded the woman turn over her car keys, which she did. The fled in her vehicle, which was later recovered.

Police blotter: Shooting, carjacking, two robberies

A shooting, carjacking and three robberies were reported Uptown since Friday (April 1). A 49-year-old man was injured in shooting Monday afternoon (April 4). He was fighting with another man at about 3:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of Washington Avenue, near the cemeteries in Central City. The man took out a gun, shot the 49-year-old in the leg and fled. The Emergency Medical Service took the victim to the hospital.

Crimes reported this week by the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods include two shootings, an aggravated burglary and the armed theft of two pickup trucks. Double shooting: A double shooting injured a woman and a man in Central City on Wednesday afternoon (March 23). They were walking near Magnolia Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 1 p.m. when gunfire erupted. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered a graze wound to her leg. The Emergency Medical Medical Service brought her to the hospital.

A shooting on South Claiborne, an armed robbery on St. Charles Avenue, and carjackings on Jackson Avenue and Gen. Ogden Street are among the crimes reported recently by the New Orleans Police Department. The NOPD is investigating an early morning shooting Tuesday (Feb. 15) in the 2100 block of South Claiborne Avenue, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Initial reports show that 6th District officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 1:45 a.m. They found a 23-year-old male with gunshot wounds.
