NOPD seeks suspects in school burglaries, store robbery (with video)

The New Orleans Police Department has released photos and a video of suspects in two school burglaries and the armed robbery of a business. The incidents are not related. At 7:19 p.m., a man entered the store while visibly clutching a handgun in his waistband.

Suspect arrested in Hollygrove shooting, burglary

The NOPD arrested a suspect Michael Tobias, 32, in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on Aug. 21 in Hollygrove. A 60-year-old man was shot during a suspected burglary in the the 8400 block of Palm Street. The police report stated that the victim was shot at about 8:15 a.m., when a man began firing during a confrontation. The Emergency Medical Service took the 60-year-old to the hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

Police seeking suspect in series of bicycle thefts

The New Orleans Police Department is seeking the man pictured above for a string of burglaries and thefts in Uptown neighborhoods. The suspect is believed to frequently target sheds and steal bicycles. He is suspected in recent incidents in the 1200 block of Octavia street, the 4800 block of Perrier Street, the 1500 block of Jefferson Avenue and the 1600 block of Valence Street. NOPD arrests juvenile in armed robberies, string of burglaries

The NOPD as arrested a 17-year-old male accused in a Sixth District armed robbery and several other incidents in the First, Second and Sixth Districts. On Tuesday (March 2) Sixth District Person’s Crime detectives, NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested the juvenile in relation to an armed robbery that occurred Jan. 18 in the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue in the Garden District. A search warrant was obtained for the residence. During the execution of that warrant, the following items were recovered:

A stolen black Glock 19 with a tan grip
An Aero Precision x15 rifle, along with several armor piercing 5.56 rounds
Black gloves, ski masks, and a small plastic bag containing 97 Ecstasy pills (MDMA).

Police blotter: Seven armed robberies among crimes reported over Thanksgiving weekend in Uptown neighborhoods

This past holiday weekend saw a rash of armed robberies in Uptown neighborhoods. In addition to seven armed robberies, a carjacking and an aggravated burglary were  reported by the New Orleans Police Department. Aggravated burglary: In an incident police classify as an aggravated burglary, a man was stabbed and another was shot in Central City. At about 8:20 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 29), the two men got into a verbal altercation in the 1800 block of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard.

NOPD seeks suspect in theft of tools

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Stephen Hamilton, 50, in the investigation of a simple burglary that occurred on May 29 in the 1800 block of Washington Avenue. NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call regarding a duplex under renovation that had tools stolen. During the course of the investigation, Sixth District detectives developed and positively identified Hamilton as a suspect. Prior to the officers’ arrival, Hamilton reportedly fled the scene. The supplied photo of Hamilton is believed to be an older photo, and he is currently believed to have a Mohawk-style haircut.

Police blotter: Robbery, aggravated burglary

A man was robbed of his bicycle in Broadmoor on Saturday and a four residents in a Dixon area home were assaulted and burglarized on Sunday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The first incident occurred just after noon on Saturday A 30-year-old man was locking up his bicycle was locking his bicycle in the 3900 block of Washington Avenue, near Broad Street, when he was approached by five men. After one tried unsuccessfully to grab the bike, another punched him in the head. The men then grabbed the bicycle and fled. On Saturday night, the victim saw the man who had struck him.

15 people robbed inside Central City home

Fifteen people were robbed in a Central City home early Tuesday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. Two men entered the home in the 2200 block of Third Street at about 1:50 a.m. and demanded that everyone get to the ground and put their money in a bag. The 15 victims inside the home complied. The intruders then searched each victim’s pockets and took other property. Further details were not immediately available.

NOPD: Suspects sought in package thefts, bicycle theft, burglary

Package theft on Camp Street

The New Orleans Police Department is seeking to locate and identify a suspect seen on video surveillance in a package theft incident on Nov. 6. At about 2:14 p.m., the above pictured subject entered the victim’s yard in the 3700 block of Camp Street and removing a package from the victim’s front porch. He is then seen opening the package, removing the contents and placing the contents in his bag. The suspect then was seen throwing the package box away.
