SWAT roll on Palmer Avenue ends with woman’s peaceful surrender, police say

An early-morning SWAT roll on Palmer Avenue ended with a woman’s peaceful surrender Thursday, New Orleans police said.

The SWAT team was called to the 1700 block of Palmer Avenue (between Loyola and St. Charles avenues), where a woman was “barricaded inside armed with a firearm,” said NOPD Officer Juan Barnes, a departmental spokesman, around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, April 9.

The situation ended peacefully with the woman’s surrender, Barnes said around 7:20 a.m.
