Four wounded in three overnight shootings in Central City, Hollygrove

Four people were wounded Wednesday night in three shootings in Central City and Hollygrove, New Orleans police said.

In the first Central City case, a 30-year-old man was standing at the corner of Seventh and Dryades streets talking to some friends around 10:30 p.m. when he was fired upon by unidentified assailants, according to the initial police report. He ran, but later realized he had been shot in the ankle, the report states. Meanwhile, a woman in her 50s in a bar nearby was also shot in the arm, the report states.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, the report states.

The shooting was initially reported at Seventh and St. Charles Avenue, but police late clarified that it actually took place at Seventh and Dryades.

In Hollygrove, a 19-year-old man was shot in the buttocks by an assailant in a ski mask at 10:38 p.m. in the 3600 block of Eagle, according to police reports.

Back in Central City, a 31-year-old man was walking near Washington and South Saratoga around 11:30 p.m. when he was flagged down by an acquaintance, according to the initial report. He head glass break, and realized he was shot in the thumb, so he was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle for treatment, the report states.

Finally, a workman in Hollygrove was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon, according to police reports. The victim was coming out from under a house in the 4000 block of Hollygrove shortly after 12 p.m. when he was confronted by a man who raised his shirt to show a gun in his waistband, the report states. The assailant took the worker’s cell phone and left, the report states.
