Colombian cuisine coming to Central City; Rocky’s Pizza closes on Magazine

A restaurant specializing in Colombian cuisine is headed for the downtown edge of Central City, while a Magazine Street pizzeria appears to have closed.

A former partner in Baru Tapas will open Maïs Arepas, where stuffed “golden-griddled cornmeal cakes” will form the basis of a Columbian menu, at 1200 Carondelet, a former satellite location of Surrey’s, reports Ian McNulty of Gambit.

Meanwhile, the windows are papered over at Rocky’s Pizza on Magazine Street, the lights are out and no one seems to answer the phone, reports Alexander Hancock of Eater NOLA. Rocky’s sat in the same block where Nacho Mama’s closed in May.

  1. This could be interesting. No offense to the proprietors of those establishments but I’m excited to see what replaces rocky’s and nacho mamas.
