Daria Youngblood suffered brain injuries and broken bones in the January crash that killed Mariah Woods when a suspect in a drug case fleeing police ran into the car the two women were sitting in on Milan Street. The officer, Justin Ferris, was fired in September for allegedly disregarding traffic rules, violating NOPD chase policy and lying about his actions afterward — and now Youngblood has filed suit against the city, Ferris and his supervisor, Sgt. Ron Dassel, seeking damages for her injuries, according to a report by Kyle Barnett in the legal journal louisianarecord.com.
