Women sought in shoplifting from three Uptown stores

The NOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating three suspects in multiple thefts at Uptown stores. On May 5, three women entered a boutique in the 5500 block of Magazine Street and shoplifted numerous items of clothing. Second District detectives, after viewing surveillance video, identified three women as suspects. The same women were also spotted allegedly shoplifting from another Uptown shop, in the Sixth District, on the same day and have now been linked to a previous theft in the Second District. Police book man accused of shoplifting $45,000 in products from Ulta Beauty

A man was arrested in 16 separate shoplifting incidents over the past two weeks at the Ulta Beauty on South Claiborne Avenue and Toledano Street, Detective Sgt. Kevin Boswell said Tuesday (June 28) during a NOPD Sixth District public meeting. Demarcus Thomas, 41, was booked into Orleans Justice Center on June 23. He is accused of taking more than $45,000 worth of cosmetics and other beauty products, police said. Officers were in the store investigating the sharp uptick in shoplifting on June 23, said Lt. Kevin Guidry.

One suspect arrested, another sought in Magazine Street shoplifting

The New Orleans Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of Tiara Peters, 26, and arrested another woman in two shoplifting incidents that occurred Uptown on Jan. 17. At around 4 p.m., five people entered the Jean Therapy in the 5500 block of Magazine Street. They stole approximately $600 worth of merchandise from the store, police said. At about 5 p.m., three of the same people entered Sally’s Beauty Supply in the 700 block of South Carrollton Avenue and stole approximately $1,400 worth of merchandise, the NOPD states.

Dollar General worker dragged to the ground trying to stop shoplifter

The New Orleans Police Department is seeking to identify and locate a subject believed to be responsible for a robbery that occurred in the 8200 block of Earhart Boulevard on April 19. At about 11 a.m., the man shown above entered a Dollar General, pulled a black bag from his pocket, and proceeded to place T-shirts and earbud-style headphones in it, the police report stated. A female store employee confronted the subject and told him to stop. The employee was able to grab the bag from his grasp and walk away. As she moved toward the rear of the store, the subject allegedly followed and grabbed the employee and the bag and began to pull away.

Stores report string of six-pack thefts

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating multiple Second District shoplifting incidents, two of which may involve the same subject and three of which occurred at the same location. All involve beer thefts. The first incident occurred in the 6200 block of South Claiborne Avenue on April 8 around 11:20 a.m. A man entered the store and stole two six-packs of beer before fleeing. The next incident occurred about 11 hours later at the same store. Around 10:30 p.m., the same man entered the location and stole two more six-packs of beer, police said.

Four people sought in shoplifting incident at Earhart Boulevard store

The New Orleans Police Department is searching for four suspects, shown above, wanted for shoplifting in the Second District. The incident occurred on March 2 around 4 p.m. in the 8300 block of Earhart Boulevard. Four people entered the store together and browsed items before making a small purchase. As the group was leaving, one of them reached into a display stand and removed numerous items and left the store without paying. When confronted by a store employee, the foursome entered a silver or light-tan 2012 Nissan Rouge bearing Louisiana license plate VTE583 and to South Carrollton Avenue.
