Darnell Gillmore, 24, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Alyssa Kovash in the 1700 block of Robert Street in April 2005, according to reporting by Danny Monteverde of The Times-Picayune. Gillmore faces an automatic life sentence during his April 8 sentencing.

An 18-year-old woman stabbed someone she was arguing with around 1 a.m. Wednesday on Robert Street in the Freret neighborhood, police said. After the stabbing, Tamara Hebert was arrested peacefully, police said, terming the incident an aggravated battery. No information or condition was given on the victim. The stabbing took place in Robert Street’s 2600 block, which is between Willow and Clara Streets.
