Moreno takes District 93 seat in runoff

A former television newscaster won a runoff election Saturday to represent much of downtown New Orleans in the state House of Representatives, besting a former mayoral candidate in an election that saw less than 10 percent voter turnout. Helena Moreno received 1,274 votes (56 percent) to James Perry’s 1,011 (44 percent), according to complete but uncertified results from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office.
