Police blotter: Three vehicles stolen Uptown in 12 hours, and one carjacking attempt thwarted

An armed burglary, a carjacking, a vehicle theft and an attempted carjacking were reported recently in Uptown neighborhoods. Three armed men stormed a Central City home early Wednesday (June 15) and drove off in a car belonging to one of the victims, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 3 a.m., the gunmen forced their way into a home in the 3000 block of Loyola Avenue and threatened the two residents, a 39-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. They demanded the woman turn over her car keys, which she did. The fled in her vehicle, which was later recovered.

Police blotter: Two shootings, attempted armed burglary

In addition to a deadly shooting at a second-line, two shootings and an attempted armed burglary were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the weekend. On Sunday (Sept. 26), an 87-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man thwarted an armed burglary attempt in Broadmoor. The man was sitting on the porch in the 3400 block of Louisiana Avenue Parkway at about 11:45 a.m. when a man and woman approached. The victim went inside and the couple tried to force their way in.

Police blotter: Shootings reported in Central City and Leonidas

Sixth District officers were called to a shooting at Magnolia and Sixth streets Wednesday night at 10:51 p.m. When they arrived, however, no victim was found at the scene. In the Leonidas neighborhood on Monday (June 1), a 25-year-old man was shot by three men in a white four-door Dodge Charger with a black bumper. The victim was walking near Green and Eagle streets with the men began shooting from the car. He was hit in the left foot. On Monday at about 7:15 a.m., two victims were shot during a burglary in the 1200 block of Freret Street in Central City.

Armed home invader shot during struggle with Central City resident

A Central City resident shot an armed home invader early Thursday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 2:55 a.m. on May 30, a man entered the home of a 52-year-old man and 44-year-old woman in the 2300 block of Jackson Avenue, near Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way. He was armed with a gun and allegedly forced his way inside. The intruder and the male resident reportedly struggled over control of the gun inside the home. During the struggle, the suspect was shot in the shoulder and thigh.

Man and woman robbed at gunpoint in their Uptown home

Two men stole guns and cellphones from an Uptown home Friday night while two residents were inside, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The intruders entered through an unlocked front door in the 5000 block of South Claiborne Avenue at about 10 p.m. on April 12. They came into a bedroom and pointed guns at two residents, a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman. They demanded their phones, and the woman handed over hers. The gunmen then kicked in the door of another bedroom and ransacked a dresser, taking two rifles, an iPhone and other items before fleeing.
