Musicians host Hawaiian-themed blood drive in response to summer violence

The Organ Grinders (OG) with the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) will host their 3rd Annual Summer Blood Drive for the community to donate blood in response to this summer’s ongoing violence. The Hawaiian-themed drive, titled “Everybody Gets Lei’d”, takes place this Sunday, August 7,  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rock ‘N’ Bowl, located at 3000 S. Carrollton Ave.

Blood donors receive Hawaiian lei, event t-shirt, food and beverage for their contribution. Advanced registration and Hawaiian costumes are encouraged.

Everybody Gets Lei’d 2016 will host four buses from The Blood Center and outreach tables for Louisiana Organ Procurement, Be the Match, NO/AIDS Task Force, Mothers Demand Action, Crescent Care and other non-profit organizations.

Live musicians include The Guardians of the Flame, SOUL Brass Band, DJ Fayard Lindsey, Jeremy Thomas Trio, and Bo Dollis Jr. and the Wild Magnolias. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., over 14 dance troupes, Mardi Gras Indians and walking parade krewes will perform.
