City Council to announce ‘Geaux Blue NOLA Day’ celebration

New Orleans City Council will hold a press conference on Tuesday, September 6 (today) to kick off the Geaux Blue NOLA Day celebration. Geaux Blue NOLA Day is an annual day designated to recognize the vital importance of the New Orleans Police Department to the well-being of the community.

The press conference will take place at 1:30 p.m. today on the steps of City Hall, located on 1300 Perdido Street. The City Council is encouraging all residents to “Geaux Blue” on September 7 by wearing blue clothing or ribbons and to decorate their homes, mailboxes and businesses with blue wreaths, bows or lights.

By Resolution No. 4-16-348 of the New Orleans City Council, September 7 was officially declared as Geaux Blue NOLA Day.  The Council unanimously approved the resolution to establish this day as a day of recognition for the New Orleans Police Department, our men and women in blue.

City officials hope that celebrating September 7 will become an annual tradition and that citizens will continue to use this opportunity to recognize our officers and acknowledge their sacrifice, service and dedication.
