Fatal car crash sets off blaze in Broadmoor beauty salon; woman dies from burn injuries

A speeding driver crashed into a beauty salon Wednesday night, setting the car and the building on fire. Both people inside the car died at the scene, the New Orleans Police Department reported, and two children and multiple adults were injured in the blaze.

One of the fire victims, a woman who was getting her hair done in the salon, died at the hospital of her injuries, the NOPD reported early Friday.

The crash set off a three-alarm fire in the building at 4125 Washington Ave., Fire Superintendent Tim McConnell said. The building houses the Unity-1 Beauty Supply and Hair Salon.

Forum to explore open-space, parks and recreation planning

L’Ecole Bilingue de la Nouvelle-Orleans is presenting its 20th annual Fête Francaise on Saturday, March 23, at its Uptown campus, 821 Gen. Pershing St.

Fête Française is a free outdoor festival hosted by the French immersion school at the school’s Uptown campus off of Magazine Street. Entertainment this year includes Cha Wa, Soul Brass Band, Bon Bon Vivant, Panorama Jazz Band, The Tin Men, Michot’s Melody Makers, Les Rebelles and DJ Camille Lenain, plus performances by L’Ecole Blingue students
