Coast Roast Coffee opening Friday on Magazine

Coast Roast Coffee Shops is opening a new, stand-alone location Uptown on Magazine Street. The shop is ready for a Friday, Oct. 18, opening, owner Kevin Pedeaux said.

The Coast Roast brand has been served for the past decade in businesses around town, and from its coffee shops in two of the city’s markets.

S&WB lifts boil water advisory

The precautionary boil water advisory was lifted for the Uptown area just before noon on Tuesday. The emergency situation is over, officials said, and residents can resume the use of tap water.

It was the second advisory issued since a 111-year-old water main broke at the corner of Lowerline and Panola streets on Saturday. The first was lifted Monday morning only be reinstated a few hours later.

Freeman’s strength in Audubon neighborhoods buoyed her first-place finish in District 98

While the crowded District 98 race was as competitive as expected — with none of the seven candidates garnering even a third of the overall vote — Aimee Adatto Freeman led with large margins in nearly all the 14th Ward precincts around Audubon and the universities to finish first overall.

Her three closest competitors — Kea Sherman, Ravi Sangisetty and Carlos Zervigon — all won a few precincts around the borders of District 98 as they battled for second place, according to an analysis of election results from the Secretary of State’s office. Sherman ultimately edged out Sangisetty and Zervigon to face Freeman in the Nov. 16 primary.
