Uptown Swingers close out second-line season on Sunday

The Uptown Swingers will parade Sunday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. through the Freret, Uptown, Milan, Central City, Hoffman Triangle and Broadmoor neighborhoods. Lineup is at 3 p.m.

It’s the last second-line before the clubs take a break for the summer. The second-line season will start up again at the end of August.

Since 1966 the Committee for a Better New Orleans, or CBNO, and its predecessor The Metropolitan Area Committee, or MAC, have created an inclusive, welcoming environment where community leaders work across race and class lines to craft transparent solutions to the city’s most pressing problems. The brainchild of Richard W. Freeman and the Bureau of Governmental Research, the nonprofit was envisioned as the action organization that could take BGR’s recommendations to the next step through research and advocacy. Sharing many of the same goals and board members, CBNO and MAC merged in 2002.

Port of New Orleans expands its electric fleet with plug-in hybrid trucks

With existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in place and working toward energy efficiency investments defined in their new Strategic Master Plan, the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) expanded its EV fleet with the help of the Clean Fuel Transition Fund for Public Fleets, managed by the Regional Planning Commission’s Clean Fuel Partnership program.
