Danae Columbus: Think the partisan gridlock in Baton Rouge is bad? Try Washington, D.C.

Who among us isn’t frustrated by the time and money wasted because the Louisiana Legislature cannot pass a balanced budget? Though we might be infuriated, we only have to look toward Washington to see much worse. Today House Republicans will grapple with immigration reform in an attempt to come to agreement on at least some of the policies that have divided the Republican Party and the nation for several years now.

Gentilly Messenger, the newest member of the NOLA Messenger family of neighborhood-based news sites serving New Orleans, has been selected for inclusion in a national program designed to accelerate growth for new models of local journalism.

The Local Independent Online News (LION) Publishers selected Gentilly Messenger and its publisher, Tyree C. Worthy, as one of 10 participants for their Revenue Acceleration Mentorship Program, out of 79 applicants across the U.S.
