Lusher hopes to expand into new building by 2021

Lusher Charter School’s expansion into the Allen building next door is unlikely to happen prior to the fall of 2021, but school officials have already begun considering what renovations they may need now that the current occupant, Sci High, has held the official groundbreaking for its new building.

Gracious Bakery teams with NOCHI for its fourth cafe

Gracious Bakery and Cafe, which has locations Uptown on Prytania Street and in the Garden District on St. Charles, has announced a partnership in New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute the upcoming Warehouse District restaurant NOCHI Café by Gracious.

Pastry Chef Megan Forman opened Gracious Bakery with her husband Jay in 2012. The company has since grown to include three locations across New Orleans, all supported by a centralized production kitchen. NOCHI Café by Gracious will be its fourth.

With the potholes, power outages and never-ending boil water advisories, one would think New Orleans has suffered enough. But no, the Bravo network seems fit to punish us further — with Season 2 of “Southern Charm New Orleans.”

While no formal announcement has been forthcoming, the worst has been confirmed by the New Orleans Office of Cultural Economy: Film New Orleans permitting department. “Southern Charm New Orleans” Season 2 has been filming around the city. The filming permit states the filming dates as Oct. 13 to Dec. 17.

Danae Columbus: Skrmetta and Boustany, two new contenders for governor’s race?

District 1 Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta and former District 3 Congressman Charles Boustany – both Republicans – are said to be considering the 2019 race for governor against Governor John Bel Edwards. Two other Republican candidates have already announced – Baton Rouge businessman Eddie Rispone and District 5 Congressman Ralph Abraham, a physician and former veterinarian.
