Filming in Central City will slow Uptown traffic

Yandr Productions, LLC, is producing a short-form series titled “#Freerayshawn” that will be filmed in Central City from Monday, May 20, to Friday, May 24. The scenes scheduled for Central City resemble a hostage situation managed by police forces. In order to maintain continuity control, the production crew will have permitted traffic control each day on the following blocks:

The Nevilles kick off annual concert series (Photos)

Friday marked the beginning of Tipitina’s Free Fridays series, which runs from May 17 to August 30. The series began with one of the most storied families in New Orleans music, the Nevilles. Omari Neville and the Fuel opened the night and his father, Cyril, closed with his band Swamp Funk. This is the first of this series since members of Galactic acquired the venue.

Man shot outside home in Central City

A man was injured in a shooting Thursday while standing in front of his Central City home, the New Orleans Police Department reported.

The victim, 23, was talking to a friend near South Prieur and Thalia streets at 7:50 p.m. on May 16 when he heard gunshots coming from Prieur Street.
