Suspect indicted for murder of man bludgeoned with rock outside church

A man accused of bludgeoning another man to death with a rock outside a Jackson Avenue church in February has been indicted for muder, District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office announced Thursday.

Robert Froeba was charged with obstruction of justice in a homicide investigation and with the second-degree murder of 30-year-old Jose Hernandez in the two-count indictment handed up by an Orleans Parish grand jury.

An out-of-town businesswoman was walking through the Warehouse District around 5 p.m. on a recent Sunday afternoon when a car carrying two women stopped on the corner. One grabs the woman from behind, throwing her to the ground. While the driver of the vehicle laughed, the perpetrator repeatedly kicked the businesswoman in the face and head. Blood oozing from her mouth, the terrified victim was crying and begging for mercy as the savage assault continued.
