Three boys booked in Christmas purse-snatching incidents on Fontainebleau streets

The NOPD has arrested three juveniles accused of robbery in two incidents over the Christmas holiday, including snatching the purse of a woman who was helping her elderly mother out of a car on Christmas Eve.
In the second incident, an 81-year-old woman had her pursed grabbed from her on Christmas Day as she was entering her home. Both robberies occurred in the Fontainebleau neighborhood.

Police blotter: Purse snatching, cellphone snatching, armed robbery

Three robberies were reported on Uptown streets in the days leading up to Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, a 61-year-old woman was robbed while helping her mother out a car in the Fontainbleau neighborhood. Earlier that day, a man’s cellphone was snatched on St. Charles Avenue in the Garden District. Another man was robbed at gunpoint in the Xavier University area on Dec. 23.

The NOLA Project offers acting workshop for students between holidays

The NOLA Project will host a four-day workshop for students between the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The Winter Intensive, for ages 12 to 17, will focus on acting, writing, and stage combat.

Through courses led by NOLA Project ensemble members, students will have the opportunity to brush up on technique, as well as learn new skills, in preparation for their next semester.

City skipping trash pickup on Christmas, but adding makeup day for recycling

There will be no curbside trash or recycling collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Curbside trash collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

If you have Wednesday and Saturday garbage pickup, your trash will be picked up Saturday as scheduled.

For areas with Wednesday recycling collection, Metro Disposal and Richard’s Disposal will conduct special collection days after Christmas (for all those cardboard boxes and wrapping paper).
