One man was shot in a home invasion in Central City, and another man was shot in on Delachaise Street, New Orleans police said.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, a man in his 50s was inside a home in the 2000 block of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way when he heard a knock at the door, according to the initial NOPD report.
“When the victim answered the door he observed an unknown male armed with a gun,” the report states. “The victim grabbed the weapon and yelled, ‘Gun!’ while trying to slam the door.
“An individual came to assist the victim trying to hold the door closed when a second individual positioned himself behind the door to assist also,” the report continues. “Two shots were fired and the victim was struck. The second individual gave chase to the suspect but lost him.”
The injured victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of a gunshot to the leg.
About a half hour later, a man in his 30s was walking to the gas station in the 3500 block of Delachaise Street when a vehicle pulled up behind him, according to the report in that case. “An unknown male exited the vehicle and fired several shots at the victim striking him twice,” the report states.
That victim was hit in the arm and taken to the hospital for treatment, the report states.
