The suspect in last week’s armed robbery on Olive Street was photographed by a surveillance camera, and investigators are hoping the public can help identify him, New Orleans police said.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, a 22-year-old man was walking in the 8100 block of Olive Street toward South Carrollton when two people approached him, according to a NOPD report.

“The first suspect stood in front of the victim and put a black gun to his neck while demanding his property,” the report states. “The second suspect stood behind the victim and placed an object, the victim believed to be a gun to his lower back. The suspects then snatched the victim’s backpack and cellphone.”

They then left toward South Carrollton, the report states.

The first attacker was described as a tall, thin black man in his mid 20s with a dark skin tone and long dreadlocks, the report states. The second man appeared to be a few years younger, shorter and stockier, with shoulder-length dreadlocks, the report states.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to a detective, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
