The Pikachu statue emblazoned with the hashtag #Pokemonument that suddenly appeared in a Lower Garden District fountain and then just as quickly disappeared sold at auction for $2,000 on Sunday, multiple media outlets reported.

A phone bidder from New York won Sunday’s auction with the $2,000 bid, Neal Auction Company told our reporting partners at WWL-TV. The proceeds will benefit the Coliseum Square Association’s efforts to revitalize the parks and fountains in the neighborhood.
