Two people leaving the Hungry Howie’s Pizza on Earhart Boulevard were threatened by an armed robber, and a man was carjacked at gunpoint on Louisiana Avenue overnight, New Orleans police said Saturday morning.
In the first case, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 50s were leaving the Hungry Howie’s Pizza at 7838 Earhart Boulevard (about two blocks from the South Carrollton intersection) around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, after the business closed when they were confronted by a man armed with a handgun, according to the initial NOPD report. He demanded their money, but a third person, a man also in his 20s, came out of the business, and the gunman “got scared and fled,” the report states.
Shortly before 5 a.m., a man in his 50s was sitting in his silver 2009 Kia Sorento in the 700 block of Louisiana Avenue (between Annunciation and Chippewa streets) when two men approached, one on either side of the vehicle, the report in that case states.
“The subject on the driver’s side was armed with a 9-mm handgun and demanded the victim get out,” the report states.
The victim did as they said, and they drove off in the Kia, which has a Louisiana license plate of XOL351.
