The Urban Conservancy and the national landscape architecture firm of Asakura Robinson will host a workshop this weekend aimed at bolstering the public outreach requirements and revenue goals for parks in New Orleans through amendments to the city’s master plan.

The workshop will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, in the third floor conference room of the Myrtle Banks Building at 1307 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, with coffee provided.

The city is accepting requests for amendments to its master plan through July 29, and will begin reviewing the requests in August. For details on the requests that the Urban Conservancy hopes to submit, see below:

We will be focusing on:

  • Altering and adding to Volume 2, Chapter 7, numbers 12 b + c, which refer to public outreach.
  • Considering the addition of a new goal in Volume 2, Chapter 7 that refers to the creation of a sustainable source of revenue for all New Orleans parks, regardless of their ownership or operation.
