A Carrollton neighborhood leader and education consultant will challenge incumbent Woody Koppel in his bid for a third term on the Orleans Parish School Board.
David Alvarez filed to run Thursday morning for the District 6 seat on the Orleans Parish School Board, which generally covers the Carrollton half of Uptown New Orleans.
Alvarez has a master’s degree in education administration, and works as a consultant evaluating student performance and behavioral health programs. He is also the vice president of the Carrollton-Riverbend Neighborhood Association.
Koppel has served in the seat since 2008.
Qualifying for the school board races continues through Friday afternoon.
