St. Thomas Community Health Center will assist people in signing up for healthcare coverage under the new Louisiana Medicaid Expansion law this Saturday, July 16. St. Thomas insurance experts will be on hand 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their main clinic, located at 1936 Magazine Street, to help community members with eligibility requirements and applying for coverage under the new law.

Medicaid Expansion in Louisiana took effect July 1st after being signed into law by Governor Jon Bel-Edwards. Under the change, more than 400,000 formerly uninsured and mostly working Louisiana residents are now eligible for coverage. St. Thomas has mounted a concerted effort to let the community know that it is available to help navigate the process, including Saturday sign-ups for working people who might not be able to come otherwise.

The sign-up event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Takina Jones at (504) 529-5558 or tjones@stthomaschc.org.
