A woman in her 60s was carjacked Thursday night on Magazine Street, and a man was carjacked in the Carrollton area less than 10 minutes later, New Orleans police said.
In the first case, the victim — a woman in her late 60s — was getting out of her silver 2003 Jeep Liberty in the 2100 block of Magazine around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, May 19, when she was confronted by an armed man, according to the initial NOPD report. The carjacker demanded the jeep, and the victim let him have it, the report states.
Just minutes before midnight, a man in his 20s was sitting in his vehicle near Zimpel and Dante streets when he was approached by two armed men, the report in that case states. They demanded his belongings and left in his car, the report states.
Further details were not immediately available in either case. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
