After a cashier at Taco Bell on South Claiborne Avenue was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon, New Orleans police have released a photo of the suspect in hopes that the public can help identify him, authorities said.

The man walked into the restaurant in the 2800 block of South Claiborne Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday, March 14, with a gun and demanded cash from the register, according to a NOPD report on the case.

“Employees told police they opened the register drawer and the suspect removed an unknown amount of money from the cash register,” the report states. “He then left the scene on foot heading southbound on Washington Avenue toward Willow Street and then unknown.”

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8, medium built black man “wearing a yellow short-sleeve polo shirt, black pants, black shoes, and a black baseball cap with an unknown design on the front of it,” the report states. “Witnesses told police the suspect had his face covered in a black-and-white mask where only his eyes could be seen.”

Anyone who can help identify the man is urged to call the NOPD Sixth District station at 658-6060 to speak to Detective Michael Poluikis, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
