A youth minister at several local churches has been accused of sexually abusing two teenage boys for more than a year, and New Orleans police are now looking for him and seeking any other victims, authorities said.

Ryan Scott Rodgers, 36, was last known to have lived in apartment 231 at 1740 Baronne Street, where most of the incidents are reported to have occurred, according to a NOPD news release. He will be charged with sexual battery and seven counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, the report states.

“Rodgers is accused of touching the two teenage boys inappropriately while they were sleeping. Both victims told detectives that they were awakened by Rogers fondling them. The victims told Detective Stephanie Taillon that Rodgers sexually abused them for over a year,” the release states. “During the course of the investigation, Detective Taillon learned that Rodgers would buy the male victims underwear and make them pose in front of him.”

The report said Rodgers works as a youth minister at “several local churches in Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes,” but did not specify which ones.

Investigators “believe Rodgers sexually assaulted other victims during this same time period,” the report states, and any additional victims are encouraged to contact Special Victims Unit Detective Stephanie Taillon at (504) 658-5753.
