One man was killed and a passer-by was hit in the leg in a shooting Wednesday afternoon on Foucher Street in the Milan neighborhood, New Orleans police said.

The shooting took place in the 2100 block of Foucher Street (near South Saratoga) around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, according to a NOPD news release.

One of the victims, a 25-year-old man, was hit several times and ran to the nearby 2000 block of Amelia Street, where he collapsed and died, the release states.

The other victim, a 53-year-old man, was hit in the leg by gunfire, but his injury was not believed to be life-threatening, the release states. He was “was walking in the block during the shooting,” and “is not believed to be an intended target,” the release states.

NOPD Homicide Detective Tindell Murdock leading the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
