The Advanced Auto Parts store on South Claiborne Avenue was robbed at gunpoint again Saturday afternoon for the second time in as many weeks, New Orleans police said.
The robbery of the store in the 2600 block of South Claiborne was reported shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, according to the initial NOPD report.
“An unknown male wearing a gray hoodie armed with a handgun entered the business, ordered the customers to the floor, [and] some of the employees to the back of the store while another employee opened the register and safe,” the report states. “The subject took money from both and fled the scene.”
Further details on the incident were not immediately available. The same store was robbed on the afternoon of Aug. 18 by a man in a gray hoodie, and that incident was caught on surveillance video that police released to the public. Police have not said whether the two robberies are believed to have been committed by the same person.
In a separate incident, a man was robbed by his roommate in the 8900 block of Willow early Monday morning, police said.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, a man in his late 30s got into an argument with his roommate in the 8900 block of Willow, according to the NOPD report. “The roommate produced a gun and demanded the victim’s property,” the report states. “The victim complied and the roommate fled from the area.”
