A 19-year-old woman who went home with several people she met outside a closed bar in the university area was sexually assaulted by a man in the group Thursday, New Orleans police said.

The woman went to a bar and found it closed, and got into a conversation with a group of men and women outside of it, according to an incident report provided by NOPD Officer Garry Flot, a departmental spokesman.

“The group asked her if she wanted to hang with them at which she agreed and they went to an unknown residence,” the report states. “After arrival at the residence, the victim stated the males and females went into bedrooms. The victim stated the male subject that she was conversing with forcibly sexually assaulted her and fled the location.”

The incident is classified as an aggravated rape, with the original location listed as Broadway and Zimpel streets. It took place around 2 a.m. Thursday, Flot said.

Is this true? Are some people really this stupid?

The only surprising occurrence is that the bar was closed. Please be safe out there people!

This young woman is very lucky to be alive. She could have been seriously beaten or even killed. We lose so many young people who think it can’t happen to them.

Um, yes – College students who are young and naïve and think, “well, there are several people and some are girls…”
