A business on South Claiborne Avenue was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon, New Orleans police said.

A man with a gun entered the business in the 2600 block of South Claiborne (between Third and Fourth streets) shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, according to the initial NOPD report. The gunman forced the manager to open a safe and a cash register, then left, the report states.

Further details were not available. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111.

How can civilians obtain the information contained in police reports like this one? Is it freely available to everyone? If so, I’d be curious where to find it.
