After a man dashed into a South Carrollton Avenue business and robbed the employee there at gunpoint on Monday morning, investigators are hoping that surveillance video that captured the incident will help lead to a suspect, New Orleans police said.

A manager was sweeping in the front of the USAgencies office in the 3500 block of South Carrollton around 9 a.m. Monday (Aug. 4) when a man charged in with a gun, according to a NOPD report. He demanded that she open the safe, and he took cash, money orders and three envelopes out of it, then forced her into a bathroom and left — all in less than a minute and a half’s time, according to the surveillance video from the store.

The gunman is described as “a black male wearing a gray or black “hoodie” style jacket, an orange-colored safety vest [and] red shoes,” the report states. He was carrying a black handgun.

Anyone with information should call the NOPD Second District at 658-6020 or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111.
