The victim in a Sunday afternoon shooting near Carrollton Avenue who fled bleeding from the hospital has been located, and New Orleans police are now seeking the public’s help finding the man who allegedly shot him, authorities said.

Eric Falkins, 29, has been identified as the gunman in Sunday’s shooting at South Carrollton and Olive Streets, according to a NOPD news release. Falkins got into a fight with the victim shortly after noon, then pulled a gun and shot the victim, sending him to the hospital in critical condition, police said at the time.

The victim fled from University Hospital on Perdido Street against the orders of doctors and security guards later Sunday afternoon, bleeding from the neck and dressed in a hospital gown with intravenous tubes dangling. He was found by officers around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and taken back to the hospital to continue treatment for his injuries, said NOPD Officer Frank Robertson III.

When Falkins is located, he faces a warrant charging him with attempted second-degree murder in the shooting, the report states.

Anyone can help locate him is urged to call the NOPD Second District station at 658-6020 to speak to Detective Latoya Lamb or another investigator, or to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
