Around 4:20 a.m. Monday (July 14), the victim was sitting on his porch in the 3600 block of Eagle Street when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and two men got out, according to a NOPD report. One hit the victim in the face with a handgun, and they then forced him inside, demanded his money and then left with it, the report states.
Both assailants were described as dark-skinned black men in their late 20s, the report states. One was about 6-feet tall, and the other was about 5-foot-5 with a light mustache.
Around 9 a.m., three people in the 1900 block of Joliet Street (near Cohn Street) were approached by a man with a gun who demanded their belongings, but two of the victims ran into a nearby home and the third ran off on foot, according to the initial report. The gunman then left without any of their property, the report states.
In that case, the gunman was described as a 5-foot-8 black man in his late 20s with a medium build, dark skin tone and short haircut, the report states. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black bandana, black shirt and black pants, the report states.
Anyone with information in either case is urged to call the NOPD Second District at 658-6020 to speak to a detective or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
