In this weekend’s case, 35-year-old David Lewis went to a home in the 2800 block of Philip Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday (July 26) and demanded money he was owed from a resident there, according to the NOPD report. When the resident told him he didn’t have the money, Lewis “pointed a gun at the victim, taking the victim’s American bulldog, and fled on foot,” the report states.
Lewis is known to frequent the areas of LaSalle and St. Andrew streets as well as Second and South Prieur streets in Central City, the report states.
In the earlier case, police say 16-year-old Everis Hilton is the third suspect now identified in a June 11 robbery in the 600 block of Third Street in the Irish Channel. Two men with guns robbed a man walking in the area, forcing him against a house and rifling through his pockets, then fled in a waiting SUV.
The alleged getaway driver, 20-year-old Tyrone Scott, was arrested on a charge of accessory to armed robbery in the days following the crime. The two gunmen remained at large, although police had obtained surveillance photographs of them and their nicknames, “Red” and “Nugget.”
One of the gunmen, “Red,” was later identified as Raynell Whittaker, and he was arrested in Jefferson Parish, police say.
Hilton is the suspect known as “Nugget,” the recent release states. Although his last known address is the Carrollton Avenue area of Mid-City, he frequents the River Gardens area in the Lower Garden District, the release states.
Anyone with information about the location of either man is urged to call the NOPD Sixth District station at 658-6060 to speak to a detective, or to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for cash reward.
