A 27-year-old man was arrested Monday on kidnapping and other charges after allegedly forcing his way into a former girlfriend’s home on Napoleon Avenue and attacking her, New Orleans police said.

Alfred Clanton forced his way into a home in the 1700 block of Napoleon (about a block from St. Charles Avenue) around 6:15 p.m. Monday (June 7), and “committed a battery upon the victim before removing her from the residence,” according to the initial police report. The victim was an “estranged girlfriend,” said NOPD Officer Garry Flot.

Clanton was subsequently arrested, and remained in jail Tuesday morning on charges of home invasion, domestic-abuse battery and simple kidnapping, according to jail records. No bond has been set.
