A man was held at gunpoint by intruders inside his Clara Street home on Monday morning, and a teen was shot Monday evening on Josephine Street in Central City, New Orleans police said.
In the home-invasion, a man in his late 20s was inside a home in the 3400 block of Clara (near Louisiana Avenue) around 8 a.m. Monday (July 21) when two men forced their way in, according to the initial police report. One of the intruders hit the victim in the head with a gun and held him down while the other searched the home, but the victim began to struggle with his assailant and made it outside the home to escape, the report states.
The two intruders made off with a wallet and two cell phones, the report states.
In the shooting, a 19-year-old was sitting on steps in the 2800 block of Josephine Street (near Clara) around 10:30 p.m. Monday when someone approached and began firing a gun at him, the reports state. The victim was hit by the gunfire and taken to the hospital in good condition, the report states.
