An armored truck was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning near Broadway Street, according to Tulane University police.
The robbery was reported around 8:35 a.m. in the 200 block of Broadway, according to a Tulane University Police crime alert.
A Dunbar truck was making a stop there, and when the guards returned from the business, an armed robber forced his way into the vehicle, according to a report by our partners at WWL-TV. The gunman forced them to drive to Chestnut and Audubon streets nearby, where he fled on foot with a bag of money from the truck, WWL reports.
The suspect is described as a thin, 6-foot-tall black man in his mid 20s to early 30s, wearing a white garden-style hat as a mask, a long-sleeved blue shirt, blue pants and white gloves, the Tulane report states. He was holding a black handgun.
