New Orleans police have identified a suspect in a shooting on Milan Street that left a 24-year-old man dead, and investigators are seeking the public’s help locating him, authorities said.

After reports of a shooting in the 2800 block of Milan Street shortly before 2 p.m. May 21, police found Rodney Johnson lying on the ground in a yard behind a church, police said at the time. Johnson was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Investigators have now obtained a warrant for the arrest of Rononeal “Ryan” Hickman, 32, on a charge of second-degree murder, according to a NOPD news release, but he has yet to be arrested. Anyone who can help police find him is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.

Homicide Detective Tanisha Sykes is leading the investigation.
