U.S. Marshals have arrested a man in connection with a March shooting on South Saratoga Street that left two women dead and another man wounded, New Orleans police said.

Cody Williams, 25, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, according to a NOPD news release.

The shooting took place in the 3500 block of South Saratoga Street (near Foucher Street) around 3 p.m. March 13. Police found 19-year-old Renalda Variste lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, and 49-year-old Sandy George with a gunshot wound to the body inside a nearby house. Both women were taken to the hospital, where they later died. A third victim, an 18-year-old man, was also shot in the foot.

U.S. Marshals arrested Williams around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of South Saratoga in Central City, the NOPD news release states. His previous arrest record includes several marijuana-possession charges dating back to 2006 and a domestic-abuse battery charge that was quickly dropped in 2011, court records show.
