A South Claiborne Avenue business was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning and a man was carjacked on South Claiborne later that night, New Orleans police said.

In the business robbery, a man armed with a gun walked into a gas station in the 4100 block of South Claiborne (near General Taylor Street) around 4:19 a.m. and forced the clerk to empty the register, according to the initial police report.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a man in his late 40s was driving on South Claiborne near Earhart Boulevard when an armed man jumped into his vehicle, the report in that case states. The carjacker forced the man to drive to the 7800 block of Chef Menteur in New Orleans East, “where he robbed the victim of his vehicle and belongings,” the report states.

Further details about the cases have yet to be released. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111.
