The alleged getaway driver has been arrested in last week’s armed robbery in the Irish Channel, but investigators are still looking for the public’s help for two gunmen they now know by nicknames, New Orleans police said.
The robbery took place around 9 p.m. last Wednesday (June 11), when a man walking in the 600 block of Third Street was robbed by two men with guns who then fled into a waiting SUV, police have said.
The alleged driver of the silver SUV, 20-year-old Tyrone Scott, was arrested this week, said NOPD Sixth District Detective Drew Deacon, and he is now being charged with accessory to armed robbery, jail records show. The two men with guns have been identified by nicknames of “Red” and “Nugget,” Deacon said, and police are still trying to identify them.
Anyone who can help identify the suspects are urged to call Deacon at the Sixth District station at 658-6060, or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
