An 18-year-old has been arrested in a robbery of several workers last week on Danneel Street, while investigations continue into recent violent robbery on Carondelet Street and a phone-snatching on Coliseum.

Joseph Kelly has been identified as one of three men who produced a gun and robbed a group of construction workers while they were putting tools into their truck on the afternoon of April 29 in the 3300 block of Danneel Street (near Toledano), said NOPD Sgt. Danny Scanlan at the Sixth District’s weekly meeting of ranking officers. Kelly is charged with armed robbery, and the investigation is continuing now that detectives have identified a possible accomplice, Scanlan said.

Detectives are still looking for leads in the investigation into a robbery late Friday night at Carondelet and Constantinople, where a 27-year-old man was hit in the head and knocked to the ground by two assailants with a gun, Scanlan said. In that case, they were able to track his stolen phone to Freret Street near Milan before it stopped responding, Scanlan said.

A woman also had her cell phone stolen the same day in the 1100 block of Coliseum Street (near Clio just before the Pontchartrain Expressway overpass), Scanlan said. She had put the phone in a side pocket of her purse around 3:30 p.m., and a group of three people passing snatched it, Scanlan said. Detectives have made identifications in that case, and are waiting to confirm those identities with a photo lineup, Scanlan said.
