New Orleans police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance camera as he tried to rob the clerk of a Claiborne Avenue convenience store earlier this month, authorities said.
The man walked into the store in the 6200 block of South Claiborne Avenue around 4:15 a.m. May 11 and demanded the cash from the register, according to a NOPD news release. Another customer came in, however, and startled the man, so he left in a burgundy Chevrolet Trailblazer with chrome rims, the release states.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7, 150-pound black man in his early 40s with a light skin tone and a bottom row of gold teeth, the report states.
Anyone who can identify the man is urged to call the NOPD Second District at 658-6020 to talk to a detective, or call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.
