Shoppers who enjoy the unique charms of Uptown’s local businesses may have a busy day Saturday, with the Oak Street “Garage Sale” and the monthly Freret Market in the daytime, followed by the Magazine Street Champagne Stroll in the evening — and all three events are scheduled to proceed as planned, rain or shine.
The first event to get rolling will be the sidewalk sale on Oak Street, where 18 merchants will take to the street in seven blocks from 10 a.m. See below for an illustrated map of the sale from the Oak Street merchants’ association’s website:

At noon, the monthly Freret Market will kick off in the parking lot at Napoleon Avenue with dozens of local vendors and free live music from the Tanglers Bluegrass Band at noon, Washboard Chaz at 1:45 p.m., and Africa Brass at 3:30 p.m.

After the events on Freret and Oak end at 5 p.m., the champagne stroll will begin on Magazine, with businesses staying open until 9 p.m. and offering visitors free champagne, gifts and live demonstrations.
