A 59-year-old woman was found shot to death Wednesday night inside a Central City home, authorities said, the third woman to be killed in Central City in less than a week.

The victim — later identified as Brenda Hal, according to our partners at WWL-TV — was found around 11 p.m. inside a home in the 2000 block of South Liberty Street with a single gunshot wound to the head, according to a NOPD news release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

NOPD Homicide Detective Robert Bachelder is leading the investigation. Anyone with information can call him at 658-5300 or call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.

Wednesday’s homicide follows the fatal shootings of Lanisha Scott on Saturday night at Washington and Dryades and Raquel Gillard on Monday afternoon at South Liberty and Josephine, only a block from Wednesday’s case.
