Shooting in Central City. This morning’s robbery has not been posted to the NOPD’s public maps yet.
In this morning’s robbery, a woman in her mid-40s was riding her bicycle in the 4200 block of Willow Street (between Milan and General Pershing, roughly a block from the intersection of Napoleon and South Claiborne) around 5:30 a.m. when a man drove up and demanded her purse, according to the initial police report. The woman handed it over, and her assailant left, the report states.
In yesterday’s shooting, a 31-year-old man was fired upon in the 2800 block of Dryades Street (near Washington Avenue) around 11:45 a.m., according to the initial police report. The victim fled and was taken to a hospital, but no update on his condition was available, the report states.
The intersection of Washington and Dryades was also the scene of last weekend’s fatal shooting of 22-year-old Lanisha Scott, who was riding in a vehicle late Saturday night when she was killed by gunfire, police have said. Since then, two other women have been killed in shootings on nearby South Liberty Street in Central City, though circumstances have varied greatly in each case and police have not described any connections between the incidents.
